The new upscale restaurant in Veranda Park once sported former NFL quarterback Dan Marino's name and a sports theme. In early 2008, the new Tavern on the Lake features lighter menu entrees and an international wine list as well as cuisine designed and implemented by Chef Patrick Cotrell, who helped develop Darden Restaurants' Seasons 52 menu.

"We are introducing long-planned enhancements to the menu, extraordinary service levels and a completely remodeled place," says Doug Doran, president Group Four Restaurants. The remodel also included the addition of several green elements, such as the use of recycled paper and glass products.

Tavern on the Lake is part of the developing 300,000 square foot entertainment district in Veranda Park's town center.

Eventually this area will feature upscale seafood, tapas, a steakhouse and a coffee/dessert/wine bar concept, along with a sophisticated nightclub and an upscale movie theater featuring adult beverage service.
